The STC Student Chapter at TTU began in 1985 when Dr. Donald H. Cunningham took over as Director of Technical Communication in the late 1980s.  The Chapter intended to create an editing service within which students/Chapter members would get a cut of the charges ($6 per hour) for editing work for other academics.

 

It also published the newsletter, Plains Communication, which was intended to suggest the plain communication movement in style and to also evoke the location of the Chapter.
