Creating and Promoting Events

Student members and officers can create and promote events on for STC. These events are helpful in promoting the chapter as well as helping us win community points so that we can continue to win awards.

Here's what you need;

An Event Idea

A promotion Plan

Feel free to present event ideas to your officers if you need additional support. Every event you propose or carry out matters!

If you are carrying out an event and would like STC to be a part of it, here's what you can do;

Communicating Event Idea

  • Bring your event Idea up during a STC meeting or email one/all of the STC officers

    • You can also click the chat button at the bottom of the screen.

What should you communicate?

  • Will your project will benefit STC or other groups of people?

  • How will the event benefit STC or other groups of people?

  • Who will be working with you to organize the event? Work? Another organization?

  • Any other pertinent information you feel we should know.

​Depending on where you are with the event, you might already have or poster or some idea of the intended audience for the poster.

Developing a Poster

  • Submit a poster to one of the officers so that we can promote the event for you

  • If you don't know how to make a poster, reach out to the officers so that they can assist you

​

What should the poster communicate?

  • What is the event?

  • Where is the event?

  • When is the event taking place?

  • Any other pertinent information you feel your audience should know

If you already have a location for the event, please communicate this to an officer.

Securing an event location

If you don't already have a location, please communicate the time and date of the event to an officer, and we'll be happy to secure a location on your behalf.

STC will be proud to leverage our social power in order to spread the word about your event.

As you know, all our events carry some weight with the award committees that we apply to. Social media is a huge part of that.

Let's leverage that power and remember that every tweet or post counts, even if we're not posting from the STC social media accounts.
